Venerable Khenpo Kalsang Nyima Rinpoche

Khenpo Kalsang was born in eastern Tibet, in Congh Shi in Makham Zhong province. When he was ten and following his father's advice he decided to become a monk. He was later recognized as the reincarnation of Gunna Khenpo Tsering.
During his youth he reached the largest Sakya monastery, Lhankam Chemo, where he received the most important initiations and teachings of the Sakya lineage. In 1991, after a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash, he left Tibet walking for 15 days in the mountains until he reached India, where he met His Holiness Sakya Trizin for the first time in person and where he studied, for nine years, at the Sakya College in Dehradun.
In 2002, HH Sakya Trizin sent him as a resident Lama in Malaysia and then, from 2004 to 2006, to Singapore, where he led the Sakya Community. Accepting the request of the Sakya Tashi Choling of Budapest, HH Sakya Trizin then sent him to Budapest, Hungary, again as a resident Lama. Since 2006 he has lived and taught in Budapest but has given many teachings and initiations also in other European countries.

Since 2012 Khenpo Kalsang Rinpoche regularly comes to the Sakya Ngon Ga Ling Center to confer initiations and teachings.
